Right after the renovation of her apartment in Kolonaki, Maria bought another old apartment in Thiseio and decided to go ahead with a home renovation. The apartment is on the raised ground floor of a building constructed in the 1960s and has an area of 30 m².

In its original state the apartment had a separate kitchen, a combined living room/bedroom and a bathroom with a bathtub. Once the architectural design for the new apartment was complete, the necessary renovation permit was issued by the local planning authority and the following building works were carried out:

• The bathroom was completely stripped out
• The debris was taken to collection skips and removed from the site
• The floor tiles, kitchen cabinets and the wooden wardrobe in the living room were removed
• One of the bathroom walls was demolished
• The new bathroom was built where the kitchen used to be
• The electrical and plumbing installation was replaced
• The new plumbing installation was made with multilayer pipes and a distribution manifold (collector)
• A new wardrobe and kitchen were installed, and new laminate interior doors were fitted.
• A walk-in shower was built and an enclosure fitted
• The sanitary ware was replaced
• New tiles were laid throughout the apartment, the bathroom and the kitchen
• A double-armoured security door was fitted
• The apartment was skimmed, primed and painted with branded eco-friendly paints.
